47th Vermont Maple Festival Saturday 4/27/2013

47th Vermont Maple Festival 2013, April 27, 2013

I decided to get up and go with my co-worker Nora, to the Maple Festival in St. Albans Vermont. I was looking forward to everything maple!!! So as soon as we got there we went to have some donuts with maple glaze! Delicious!!! Then some maple soft serve!!!

OUT OF ALL THIS STUFF ON THE TABLE,
GUESS HOW MANY HAVE ACTUAL MAPLE SYRUP IN THEM????

ONLY ONE!!! CRAZY!!!

 These were so good!!

These were great!

I saw this sign and thought about my dog, Chiquita.

I don't know what is the deal with this, but it is a maple sundae. It is shaved ice with warm maple syrup poured on top and eaten with pickles.  I passes on this treat!

Another shot of hot maple syrup!

Nora and I on the bus to Hilltop Maple Sugar house tour!

All the sap comes down from a vacuum line from the tree to these black piping.

During the pike season these three container fill up twice in one day! That is a lot of sap!

Then it gets put in to this machine to take the last of the water out of the sap!

These are samples of the maple syrup they have pulled out of the trees this past year. The top left is bottle number 1. The season started dark and then when light for a long time. Then got dark again toward the end.  The lightness of the sap depends on the season and the weather. It is pretty interesting.
